GAM Civic gallery of Modern and Contemporary Arts

Turin was the first Italian city which created a public collection of modern art within its municipal museum, inaugurated back in 1863. The collections moved twice, and during WWII the building which hosted them was damaged under the bombings. Today, within the permanent collections there are artworks from the XIXth century and the XXth, with artists such as Canova, Hayez, Vela, Courbet, Boudin, Renoir, Pellizza da Volpedo, Modigliani, Klee, Dix and Guttuso. Several temporary exhibitions take place during the year, focussing on a specific artist.
